Oil analysis is a well-proven technique for monitoring difficult-to-access components in equipment that is being operated dynamically. Its strength lies in its ability to identify faults and potential failures at an early stage.
The full benefit of this type of analysis is achieved by taking frequent samples and trending the data. Based on the results of the analysis, lubricants can be changed, freshened or upgraded to meet specific operating needs.
This type of analysis plays a key role within a broad-based CBM (Condition Based Maintenance) regime which utilises a variety of monitoring technologies to underpin a predictive and proactive approach to maintenance.
Measure the chemical properties of base oils and their additives to ensure their performance.
Monitor the presence of any foreign bodies evident in the oil, such as water, a key cause of failure.
Detect early faults and component wear through measurement of wear particles.
