Both newly installed and in-service machinery can suffer from high vibration levels, frequent vibration alarms and even machinery trips/shutdowns with few indications as to the cause of the problem.
Throughout the industry, it is accepted that the most time-efficient and cost-effective means of maintaining fixed plant, is to undertake as much as possible, if not all of the work, on site. Ideally, fault finding methods are non-intrusive, allowing production to continue uninterrupted.
This is of most importance to machinery that is critical to production processes, such as: turbines, generators, compressors, pumps, fans and motors.
Time and money can be saved by contacting MD Ltd to identify machine faults while allowing normal operating procedures to resume, then recommending necessary remedial actions where appropriate.
Unbalance is a result of uneven distribution of a rotor’s mass and causes vibration to be transmitted to the bearings and other parts of the machine during operation. Imperfect mass distribution is present in every situation and can be due to material faults, design errors, manufacturing and assembly errors, and especially faults occurring during operation of the machine. By reducing these vibrations, better performance and more cost-effective operation can be achieved and deterioration of the machine and ultimately fatigue failure can be avoided.
MD Ltd offers an on-site balancing service in one or two planes using our own portable balancing equipment.
Vibration analysis techniques can quickly confirm misalignment as the likely cause of a vibration problem and allows an assessment of severity of the fault.
Correct identification of a fault establishes confidence that the correct remedial actions are taking place.
